As we all know, English is an international language. I am 14 years old now and I’ve learnt English for 9 years. It has become a part of my life. I think English is not only important but also very useful to me.
I have never thought that, I would pay such more attention to learning English because when I was six, I always got bad marks at school and I could not figure out the letters “ R” and “K”。 Yeah, that is impossible.
One day, my mom came to school and took me home and she saw the letters on the blackboard. She pointed to “R” and asked me “What is this?”---“R”。 “And what about this one”? She pointed to “K”。---“R”! I answered. “Are you sure?”---“Yep, mummy, They are the same!” I said confidently! My mom shook her head with an upset face. She was so disappointed with me. I am fourteen years old and I have learnt English for six years now I’ve loved English since the first time, I’ve heard it from a tape. The voice from the tape was very wonderful and the language was so nice .That time I thought，how wonderful the language is! And if I can speak English as well as the speaker in the tape，that will be amazing! So I asked my mum：“Can I learn English? I really love it!” “Of course you can，but are you sure about it? Can you insist on it?” She was a bit excited. “Of course I can，mum. What is future?Every time I look at the stars in the sky,I ask myself.It's realy a hard question to answer it.The universe is boundless,we don't know where are we from and where shall we go.I stand there,at sea.
Last Sunday,there was a rain of meteors.I went to the belcony towait for their coming.Above my shoulder,it was the wind.Above the wind,it was the sky,huge and blue,with sparkling stars.Suddenly,a shooting star appeared.I hurried to pray for her happiness,staring at it.I wanted to pray for more,but it had already died out.I realised ,future is not carved on the meteors,but it's now,around us.

When I was a primary school student, I was glad that I was a good student in the eyes of my teacher, Miss Lu. Although I did not get high marks every time, Miss Lu did not evaluate me only through marks. And so I did really appreciate her.
Perhaps many people think that a good student can always get high marks in the examinations. In school, the student who gets high marks or full marks is considered to be the model student. After school, when the students come back home, maybe their parents would force them to do more homework to get higher marks. It has no time for these students to do something that is good for their health both in body and mind.
However, in my opinion, I think that to be a good student is not only about getting high marks in the examinations, but also about knowing how to live and get along with others, which is more important than reading and writing. However, the pity is that most of the students spend so much time on their homework. Actually, they should be encouraged to go outside to do sports, listen to music and draw some pictures. Sometimes,I think my father was a philosopher,sometimes think he is a activists,always set an example for his child ,do what a father should do.He is always working hard to feed large family, he is always considerate to forgive his naughty children,moreover he filial piety to the old person,to repay parents' brought up. In a word, he always so good.

Thank you very much!非常感谢！在接下来的时间里，我将和大家一起分享一下学英语的苦辣酸甜。最主要的，是想通过我在北大六年教学经历、美国六年生活经历、“新东方”六年教学经历，来和大家交流一下怎能样尽快的提高大家的listeing and speaking comprehensions.
我的经历具体是这样的：我是1980年从内蒙古考到北大的，比大家高了好多届。我在北大学英文，然后又在北大教书。教书六年之后，在1990年，我求学到美国。我发现到了，美国一下飞机，我一句话也听不懂。当时我想，至少我学了几年英文，所以打算继续学英文。正在我在考虑到哪里去的时候，我听到一种说法，叫做everybody in American can speak English。那么我又怎么能够在美国赚钱呢？所以，我必须改变这个想法。于是我该学了学计算机。计算机硕士毕业以后，我在美国的贝尔实验室做了两年的软件工程师。在1995年，“新东方”的创始人俞敏洪来到了美国，在他的建议下，我有回国，开始参加“新东方”的创建。我和俞敏洪在北大是同班同学——“新东方”的五个“创业元老”里有三个是北大的同学。除了我们两个还有一个是“新东方”的图书总策划包凡一老师，他是“新东方”的写作专家。我在大学时代是他们的班长，他们两个当时是全班最落后的学生。我那时的主要精力和时间都花在每天晚上陪他们两个在湖畔散步，劝
他们不要跳下去。我告诉他们说：“你们将来一定会成才的。”到了96年，我在新东方担任副校长的时候，有一个大学生就问我说：“王老师，你上大学时四年都是他们的班长，你现在却是他们的副校长，你的心理平衡怎么找？”我说：“不用找，我现在心理是最平衡的。我当初当班长最大的夙愿就是帮助这两个后进青年成才。今天看到他们已经纷纷成才了，我的夙愿已经了了。平衡彻底找到了。”——我们的确都要找到一个平衡的方法，只有心态平衡下来，你才能够干成伟大的事业。
在美国的时候我学计算机之前，还有一段小插曲。那就是我险些报考了哈佛的人力学系。我离开北大之后，吸引我的学校只有两所，一所是英国的牛津大学，就是Oxford University；另一所呢就是Harvard University。那时候，哈佛大学人力学系的系主任，对我进行了面试之后觉得可以录取我，并且提出可以给我提供五年的Scholarship。他说：“你只要答应我一个条件，”我说：“什么条件？”——这个教授研究的是非常偏的一个科目，所以招生好多年都没有找到一个合适的学生。他是在人力学系研究中国文化中苗族文化的。——他说：“只要你跟我学苗语，我就给你奖学金。”我说：“可以。”但是，我冷静下来之后想：我拿了这些钱，在五年之内，过的是天上人间的日子。就算不能从哈佛大学毕业，也能够肄业。将来至少能够跟孙子夸口说，爷爷当年进过哈佛。但是这还不行，因为我拿到这个学位，最终的目的是要找个饭碗。我就考虑，在北美这样大片的土地上，有多少地方需要我这样的'人才呢？——苗族文化专家。通过“研究”，我发现，全北美只有一个地方需要，就是哈佛大学、人力学系、这位老师。所以，如果全北美只有一个机会，他的目标里只有我一个人，那么这个机会对我来说是百分之百的！但是，五年之后，我仍然处于一个非常劣势的地位。我如果能在哈佛大学拿到学位，接下来的梦想就是当上哈佛大学的教授、终身教授。美国大学关于终身教授的规定：只要这个教授不去世，你就别想替代他。我想，万一我六十岁就“夭折“了，那位教授八十多岁还健在，我也还是助教。想到这儿，我就对那位教授说：“I want to learn something different。”
当时是1990年，计算机在美国变得popular。而且招生的指标还有70个，我觉得这是个attract opportunity，于是决定学计算机。如果学计算机，我就可以成为一个“计算机科学家”，就可以make money。但当时，我已经十年没摸过数学了，计算机也从来没有接触过。我想，我能不能学计算机呢？我用亚里士多德的“三段论”来推导这个问题：计算机是人发明的东西，凡是人都应该懂人发明的东西。最后，如果我学不了计算机，我就不是人。得出这个结论之后，我就要做一些实际的调查，看一看计算机到底是什么。我到了纽约最大的书店，看看计算机架上到底有些什么书。其中有两架书，
上面都有两个共同的词，这两个词深深地吸引了我，那就是programming languages。我看见的其实只有一个词：languages。这个词说明我与计算机是有关系的——我想，汉语是一种language，英文是我的first foreign language，法语是我的二外语，德语是第三外语。这个“编程语言”与我所会的这四门语言一定有共同的地方，所以才能一样叫语言。于是，我就挑了一本书，看自己能不能读懂，结果发现没有一页读懂的。但是我发现了编程中很重要的一样东西，是逻辑流程。我就靠这两点——语言和逻辑，和纽约州立大学计算机系的系主任约会，说：“我是一个非常优秀的人才，你必须录取我。”他看了我的成绩单以后，说：“可是，你在北大学习的四年中，没有一门课程与教学和计算机有关。”我说：“请等一下，我给你陈述一下你为什么必须要我——哈佛大学正在在考虑录取我呢！另外，我有三点非常强的优势。第一，计算机与其他机器相比最重要的特点是它能安装软件，那么什么是软件呢？”他说：“programs 。”我又问：“那么我们用什么来写这个programs呢？”他说：“language。”我说：“那你再看看我的成线单，最重要的一个词是什么？”老师说：“language。”我说：“我已经掌握了四门语言，再学一门方言是易如反掌。”教授说：“有道理。”然后我又说：“计算机能够工作，它离不开人预设的逻辑。我在北大做了六年老师，做老师最大的特点就是训练一个人的逻辑思维结构。我已经
